Prospective Students

Interested in joining the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Trombone Studio? Your first step is to get accepted to the university and then audition for the trombone studio.

First, apply for admission to the university. More information about admission requirments can be found at the Office of Admission website.

Second, you'll need to audition for the Department of Music.

Audition Requirements

Tenor Trombone

Choose to play #1 and/or #2 as long as the player can demonstrate both technical and lyrical ability.

  1. One lyrical etude and one technical etude both from selected All State materials from any year.
  2. A solo of applicant’s choice from the Class one PML list or a solo of equal difficulty.

Applicants will also be asked to demonstrate sight-reading ability.

Bass Trombone

Choose to play #1 and/or #2 as long as the player can demonstrate both technical and lyrical ability.

  1. One lyrical etude and one technical etude both from selected All-State materials from any year.
  2. A solo of applicant’s choice from the Class one PML list or a solo of equal difficulty.

Applicants will also be asked to demonstrate sight-reading ability.
